**Job Summary**
Fleming College Toronto is a public college-private partnership between Fleming College (FC) and Trebas Institute, with academic delivery and student support services managed by Global University Systems (GUS) Canada. Fleming College Toronto and Trebas Institute are part of the GUS Canada network of higher education institutions.
Trebas Institute, established in 1979, is a private vocational school with campuses in Montreal and Toronto and offers a broad range of programs in audio, film and television, business and technology as well as music, event and entertainment management. Our mission is to provide high-quality and accessible education and support services to maximize our students’ success and learning experience. The Student Services Manager will be an integral part of providing student-focused support and engagement throughout the student journey at FCT. Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the incumbent will manage the Student Services staff and day-to-day operations of the department. Providing strong leadership and support, the Student Services manager will help drive forward the department’s overall operational goals and objectives.
The incumbent will have excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, demonstrated leadership abilities, be a quick thinker, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage and oversee day-to-day Student Service operations and staff while continually driving forward the goals and objectives of the department from an innovative, systems-oriented approach.
- Oversee and play a key role in the planning and execution of major student events such as Orientation, Welcome Fair, Convocation, etc.
- Provide recommendations, advise, and assist in the development and drafting of policies, departmental training materials, student resources, and standard operations procedures.
- Continually seek ways to engage students to gain valuable insight and perspective into the student experience.
- Closely liaise with other departments to improve internal processes, student support services, and to enhance the overall student experience.
- Review and issue any relevant student documents in an effective and timely manner (e.g., insurance policies, student ID cards, certificates, etc.)
- Maintain a positive work environment and department culture through effective leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, and team-building endeavors.
- Complete performance evaluations for direct reports, suggest performance improvements, and identify professional development opportunities.
- In collaboration with the Campus Director, maintain and enforce student code of conduct, ensuring correct procedures are followed while maintaining suitable levels of student discipline, safety, and welfare
- Assist in providing exceptional conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies to effectively resolve student-related issues.
- Evaluate and report on department-related data including risk assessments, resource management, student engagement, etc.
- Plan and lead weekly team meetings with Student Services staff ensuring positive staff morale, motivation, and performance.
- Perform other Student Service-related duties and tasks as assigned.
**Qualifications** & **Requirements**:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, education, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of managerial experience
- Minimum 3 years working in an educational setting, post-secondary preferred
- Experience working with international students is considered a major asset
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team
