**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Property Tax Claims**
- Promptly review new claims as assigned, specifically regarding real estate property tax claims
- Initiate contact required to meet service levels with the insured or law firm
- Clarify the details of the claim, review coverage under the applicable policy
- Request further information/documentation as required to proactively adjudicate the claim and positively confirm or deny coverage

**Construction-Related Claims**
- Once a Claims Counsel has accepted coverage on construction-related claims involving municipal enforcement, the claim will be transferred to the Resolution Specialist to determine resolution strategies, including working with contractors, engineers, and architects on obtaining quotes to resolve the claim.

**General Duties**
- Retain and instruct external professionals as needed (adjuster, lawyer, surveyor, appraiser, contractors
- Negotiations of settlements, and review of files for potential recovery
- Follow standard internal guidelines and processes with respect to file management, including naming conventions, efficient and orderly file entries, status updates, escalation process for coverage and denials, recording particulars in claims software, setting applicable reserves, requesting and making payments and closing completed files promptly

**Qualifications**:

- Law Clerk designation
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a real estate law clerk in a firm and/or title insurance environment
- Knowledge and understanding of real estate practices, from start to finish, while understanding title issues and their resolution
- Solid understanding and interpretation of current legal terminology
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail
