The Calgary Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Pilot project is looking for 4 students to join the Process Enhancement Team this summer. The Summer Student position focuses on improving processes, developing resources, and managing technology projects related to work integrated learning.

The student will work with a team to identify areas for improvement in current systems and support new solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness. The student may research and create resources that support future students as primary stakeholders in work integrated learning. This role requires strong project management skills, research skills, and communication skills.

Process Improvement

Teamwork

Teamwork will be essential during the internship and will be developed further as the Process Enhancement Intern will require strong teamwork skills during the internship, which will be developed further as the inter works and collaborates with their team and other Calgary Economic Development staff to complete research projects and overall company goals. They will work with small groups within the organization, as well as larger groups that may include public sector, key stakeholders, civic partners and the private sector.

Communication Skills

Throughout the internship, the Process Enhancement Intern will develop written and oral communication skills as they will be required to regularly communicate with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders. They will also develop oral communication skills while attending meetings and events, learning to network and discuss the organization’s objectives.

Leadership

Leadership and project management skills will be fortified during the internship through the management of projects that will be assigned to the intern. A successful intern will also demonstrate initiative and take on responsibility for the completion of projects under their leadership.

This is a 16-week term position beginning in the month of May.
