**COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST**

Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours/per week)
- Mississauga Site_

**Position Summary**:
ErinoakKids is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the communications team, reporting to the Communications Director. The successful applicant will contribute to the goals and objectives of the organization by advising on and supporting day-to-day corporate communications and marketing initiatives, with a special focus on fundraising.

ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development is currently Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre, serving 25,000 children and youth annually who have physical and developmental disabilities, autism, communication disorders, and vision or hearing loss. Our mission is to help each child discover and reach optimal levels of independence, learning, health and well-being.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support the communications needs of the ErinoakKids fundraising team, advising on strategy, drafting, and editing, proofreading and distributing campaign content across channels and supporting events;
- Work with internal partners to determine communications goals and develop strategies and tactics to achieve desired outcomes;
- Monitor trends and issues related to ErinoakKids and the Children’s Treatment Centre sector to provide strategic issues management and media relations advice;
- Produce ErinoakKids’ community e-newsletter, including compiling and editing content, formatting for distribution, and responding to questions or feedback;
- Participate in the execution of the organization’s social media strategy, including developing and posting content;
- In partnership with the Communications team, work collaboratively to manage the ErinoakKids website and keep content fresh and engaging;
- Provide other strategic communications support for organizational initiatives, as required;

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary level education, and a minimum of three years’ experience in a field relevant to communications, public relations, marketing; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A post graduate degree and/or experience in the health care sector is an asset;
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and logically. Familiarity with Canadian Press Style Guide, experience writing for varied audiences across channels;
- Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the capacity to handle multiple projects and priorities in a professional and timely manner;
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act proactively when faced with challenges and issues;
- Self-starter, comfortable with working remotely;
- Experience in developing and editing communication plans and collateral such as presentations, flyers, and social media posts;
- Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment and sensitivity in dealing with internal/external communities;
**In addition, the following would be assets**:

- Previous experience providing communications support for a charitable organization;
- Experience with photo/video editing and graphic design software, including Creative Cloud;
- Knowledge of the Kentico CMS platform and Google Analytics;
- Direct experience working with the media;
- Accreditation or certification with IABC or CPRS;
- Understanding of the health-care sector and childhood disability issues.
