We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented **Payroll Specialist** to join the Arcfield team in **Calgary**. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll in compliance with federal and provincial legislation and internal policies. This role maintains employee payroll records, responds to payroll inquiries, and collaborates with HR and Finance teams to support compensation-related initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting. **Key Responsibilities**: - Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, including the Canada Labour Code. Stay informed of legislative changes that impact payroll administration. - Process biweekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees using ADP (Workforce Now) and finance software. * - Monitor, verify and process timekeeping data and resolve discrepancies with managers or employees. - Coordinate payroll adjustments including bonuses, retroactive pay, vacation payouts, and special deductions. - Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs) and T4s and other required provincial tax forms, and support year-end processes. - Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, timesheets, and deductions in a timely and professional manner. - Maintain payroll files and ensure data integrity and confidentiality. - Reconcile payroll reports for month-end and prepare journal entries for Finance. - Assist in audits and reporting related to payroll, taxation, and employment records. - Assist in payroll-adjacent reporting (WCB and CNESST). - Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance. **Backup Responsibilities** - Supporting the AP team with data entry and payment runs (as necessary). Minimum Qualifications: - Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting and/or Payroll. - Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification (PCP or CPM) is an asset. - Minimum 3 years of experience processing payroll in a mid-to-large organization (>100 employees, various jurisdictions). - Knowledge of payroll legislation across Canadian provinces and/or federal jurisdictions is an asset. - Experience with ADP (Workforce Now) is an asset. - Microsoft Excel (intermediate level). - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. - Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: - Fluent in spoken and written French would be an asset but not required.
