**Job Summary**
The Payroll Officer is responsible and accountable for paying all hospital employees accurately, on time and in compliance with legislative requirements. The role is also responsible for ensuring that bi-weekly, monthly, annual and year end duties are performed, including pay processing, reconciliation of liability accounts to the general ledger, monthly journal entries, remittances and external reporting.
**Qualifications**
- Post-Secondary educated related to Accounting, Business, HR or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 3 years computerized payroll experience required.
- Certified Payroll Compliance Professional (CPCP) certification or enrollment required.
- Experience working in a unionized environment with multiple collective agreements required.
- Experience with the Meditech payroll system and/or UKG Pro Workforce Management would be an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills with sound written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner.
- Experience in dealing with the public, handling inquiries, and working in a deadline-oriented environment is required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is essential along with well-established organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while recognizing priorities.
- Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association
- Flexible work hours based on organizational needs
