**Position Overview**

The Yard Lead is an ambassador of the marina and acts as a leader to other yard workers. They will oversee and work with the yard and maintenance employees. This role is responsible for yard and ground maintenance, docks and buildings on the property. Seasonal duties include Spring Launch, Fall Haul-outs, block and trailer boats, shrink wrapping, shrink wrap removal, buffing & waxing, power-washing and acid washes.

**Essential Job Functions**
- Follow, understand, and practice all Hindson Marina policies and procedures (i.e., workplace health and safety, environmental, vacation, time off, etc.)
- Preserve a safe work environment by removing hazardous material throughout the marina
- Provide exceptional friendly and professional customer service to all marina patrons by interacting with them in a personable manner to guarantee a pleasant and safe stay
- Watch for and alert people of dangerous situations
- Perform circle checks on vehicles and equipment
- Block and trailer boats
- Haul out and launch boats using heavy equipment (travel lift, hydraulic trailers, forklifts, tractors)
- Train and advise employees in the crew.
- Maintain docks, harbour area, public restrooms and shower facilities
- Construct and maintain docks
- Provide pump out services
- Buff & wax boats, as required
- Shrink wrap boats as required
- Perform acid washes as required
- Perform groundskeeping duties as required.
- Drive and tow boats when required

**Job Requirements**:

- Must have 3 years’ experience in the marine or similar industry
- Must possess sound leadership skills
- Must be available to work flexible hours Monday to Friday, including weekends
- Experience in the marine industry is an asset including working knowledge of boats and marine systems
- Experience with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and welding is an asset
- A or AZ license is an asset
- Possession of a valid G license and clean driver’s abstract
- Must have experience with operating skid steer and other heavy equipment
- Must have a valid Pleasure Craft Operators card
- Must have a valid Forklift Certification
- Must have a valid Travel Lift Certification
- Valid First Aid Certification as an asset
- Knowledge of nautical terminology or the ability to learn quickly
- Must possess superior customer service skills
- Must work well as a team and individually in a professional manor.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to swim and tread water for two minutes is an asset
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- CSA approved Safety Shoes

**Working Conditions**
- Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50lbs without assistance
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, reach, and pull for extended periods
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Exposure to loud engine/equipment noise
- Exposure to fuel odors and hazardous substances

Pay: $26.00-$29.00 per hour
