Company Overview

We are a large, full-service marina nestled in the southwest corner of beautiful Penetanguishene Harbour. As the largest independently owned marina on Georgian Bay, we understand the importance of ensuring our customers are completely satisfied with all the services we have to offer, specifically, launch, haul, service, dockage and their general overall experience at the marina.

Position Overview

Boat Detailers are responsible for detailing boats which include compound, wax, buffing, interior, and exterior cleaning. Other duties that arise seasonally include Spring Launch, Fall Haul-outs, blocking boats, shrink wrapping, shrink wrap removal, bottom painting, power-washing and acid washes, and cutting grass.

Essential Job Functions
- Continually strive to meet the Hindson Marina standard of customer experience
- Follow, understand and practice all Hindson Marina policies and procedures (ex: workplace health and safety, environmental, vacation, time off, etc)
- Report any incidents and/or accidents directly and immediately to your supervisor
- Perform buffing and waxing services on boat exteriors to enhance appearance and protect surfaces.
- Clean and prepare boat surfaces by washing, drying, and removing oxidation or surface imperfections.
- Operate power buffers, polishers, and hand waxing techniques to achieve a high-gloss finish.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Clean and detail boat interiors and exteriors.
- Assist with blocking and moving boats.
- Participate in preparing boats for launch and haul
- Work according to all Health and Safety protocols
- Participate in general marina and yard maintenance, including power washing, groundskeeping, and housekeeping.
- Follow safety guidelines when handling chemicals and power tools.
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- All other duties deemed necessary by Service Manager or delegate

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in marine detailing, auto detailing, or a similar industry preferred.
- Experience in the marine industry is an asset including working knowledge of boats and marine systems
- Retail marine parts experience is an asset
- Knowledge of nautical terminology or the ability to learn quickly is an asset
- Knowledge of buffing, waxing, and polishing techniques for fiberglass, gel coat, and painted surfaces.
- Ability to operate buffers, polishers, and other detailing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card, First Aid, and CPR Certification are assets.
- Must possess superior customer service skills.
- Ability to swim and tread water for two minutes is an asset.
- Must work well as a team and individually.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be available to work Monday to Friday.

Working Conditions:

- Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
- Work on sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Will be exposed to excessive noise from boat engines and equipment.
- Will be exposed to strong odors from wastewater, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
- Will be exposed to hazardous materials, dangerous or toxic substances, and chemicals.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $20.00-$24.50 per hour
