**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Manager and Director of the International Student Program the Homestay Coordinator supports international
students’ retention and success by helping them adapt to life in Winnipeg and living with a Canadian homestay family. They will
support the retention and recruitment of a pool of homestay families with which international students will be placed. They will
liaise between homestay families, international students, International Student Program (ISP) and ISP recruitment partners to
respond to emerging needs of both students and families. The incumbent is required to travel regularly between the Monterey
Board Office and LRSD school locations. This position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
As the Homestay Coordinator, you will:

- Recruit Homestay Families living within LRSD catchment.
- Effectively match and place students with families.
- Implement and maintain LRSD Homestay Family support.
- Act as resource & support for international students living with LRSD Homestay Families.
- Effectively communicate with ISP, ISP partners, & LRSD Homestay Families.
- Act as first point of contact for conflict resolution and issues management.
- Contribute to ISP Social Media.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)**:

- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field is required. An equivalent combination of post-secondary

education training and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 4 years of related experience, preferably in an educational setting, homestay program or intercultural

environment in community organizations.
- Familiarity with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canadian regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and on-call.
- Superior written communication skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to act with diplomacy.
- Intercultural competence and the ability to work with a diverse group of people and to demonstrate sensitivity to other
- cultures.
- Demonstrated accountability and the ability to work independently, often without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated experience accessing and using online databases.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, promote, facilitate, and evaluate programs and events.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation related to international education.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in social media and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to speak multiple languages is an asset.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License, current Driver’s Abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Will be required to work non-standard hours which would include evenings and weekends.
- First Aid and CPR training completed within the probationary period (90 working days).
