**The role**

The Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure will play a critical role in the organization by ensuring that cloud-based solutions are robust, secure, and efficient. The following outlines the responsibilities, skills, and expertise of a specialist with a focus on ESRI ArcGIS, Azure, security hardening, and networking.

**The responsibilities**

Cloud Server Management
- Overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Manage build and release processes utilizing Azure DevOps as well as custom configurations.
- Implement service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems.
- Assist in project planning and the coordination of all elements of IT architectural design strategy, execution and follow-up.

Azure Services Administration
- Utilizing Microsoft Azure for cloud services, including virtual machines, databases, and storage solutions, to support various business functions.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on standards, products, and services.
- Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment.
- Act as a SME in consultation with Management and other teams of developers, architects and business analysts to ensure defined strategies and best practices.
- Make complex, critical, technical decisions with confidence and through engaging in spirited collaboration and debate.

ESRI ArcGIS Integration

Security Hardening
- Implement all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data (Canadian Government Protected B and ITSG-33 standards).

Networking
- Collaborating with IT Architect to design and manage network architecture to ensure secure and efficient data flow between cloud servers and other network resources.

**The requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
- 5 years of experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering.
- Experience with one or more Cloud Computing platforms, such as Azure Cloud Server Management.
- Expert level skills with scripting such as PowerShell, Python.
- Experience in IAAS, SAAS, and PAAS strong understanding of deploying infrastructure with Azure DevOps.
- Extensive experience in managing cloud server environments, including knowledge of different cloud platforms and their specific features.
- Proficiency in setting up and managing virtual machines, monitoring server performance, and ensuring high availability.
- Expertise in ESRI ArcGIS.
- Well-versed in Azure’s suite of tools and services, including Azure Active Directory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Storage.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps and automation tools is also beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical (24x7) environments.
- Familiarity with modern databases technologies.
- Skilled in vulnerability assessments, encryption techniques, and incident response. Experience in Canadian Government ITSG-33 standards preferred.
- Strong networking skills including knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers. Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, architecture and core technologies (DNS, routing, iptables, tc, etc.).
