We are looking for a Cook to join our Venue Operations team at the **Art Gallery of Hamilton**.

**Major Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food consistent with standard catering practices.
- Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor, ethics, and image, and reinforce the importance of a high standard of sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
- Assessing and verifying adequate ingredients are prepared and ready for the day’s production.
- Ensuring the work station is clean, organized and sanitary.
- Ensuring the work station is safe while complying with all health and safety guidelines and SOPs.
- Ensuring that the workstation is closed down properly at the end of the shift, as outlined by SHFG food safety policy and relevant SOPs.
- Proper organization of fridges, freezers and shelves.
- Shows enthusiasm and motivation to complete job requirements in a timely manner.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Ability to work in a high-volume kitchen environment to prepare large quantities of food for catered events
- Ability to work and cook both indoors and outdoors as necessary for catering events
- Must be able to work all shifts which may include: days, evening, weekends and holidays
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work long periods of time in a standing position
- Able to work in a temperature controlled environment (hot kitchen)
- Other duties as assigned.

**Position Requirements**
- Minimum one (1) year cooking experience in a fast-paced environment
- Culinary degree or diploma is an asset
- Excellent communication skills
- Be a team player

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (required)
- Cooks: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
