Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is an important part of TMX’s corporate strategy, business processes and investment decisions as we look to build a sustainable future for our company and our partners. While we are proud of the tremendous progress we have made in our ESG activities and priorities over the past year, we recognize that much more work lies ahead of us.

The Head of Corporate Citizenship and ESG Strategy is tasked with exploring, evaluating and executing on opportunities to position TMX as a company leading by example in the Canadian marketplace for corporate citizenship and transition finance. The incumbent will also collaborate with Government Relations on our advocacy initiatives relating to ESG matters.

ESG is a focus area for TMX’s key stakeholders including customers, investors, employees and the communities in which we operate as they incorporate ESG matters in the assessment of companies and impact they have on people and the planet.

The Head of Corporate Citizenship and ESG Strategy will report to the Vice President, Governance, Legal and Business Affairs, and is part of TMX’s Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA) group.

Key Accountabilities:
ESG Strategy- Support the development of a plan to help TMX continue to improve their position as ‘a leader in ESG’ and articulate corporate ambition- Work with the VP, Governance, Legal and Business Affairs to the development of the company’s ESG governance framework, strategy, socialization and approvals as well as implementation of the strategy- Establish a clear, prioritized activity roadmap that successfully delivers on the ESG mission and strategy- Engage with the broader ESG community, industry participants and TMX’s stakeholders to build partnerships and share best practices- Work across the business to advise and educate, ensuring that key stakeholders understand the role that they (or their teams) play in the ESG strategy as well as key industry trends and best practices- Actively participate in working groups to share information with business leaders and corporate development team on emerging ESG products and services

ESG Communications- Act as liaison between internal and external audiences on ESG communication including investors, employees and ESG community- Support the investor relations team on ESG investor strategies and communications as required- Lead drafting of critical communications materials including:
- Annual ESG Report-
- ESG portion of our website-
- Presentations/educational material for other departments and employees-
- Engage with management and cross functional teams to establish two-way communication process on all ESG related issues- Understand and ensure communication of ESG related matters is accurate and meaningful-
- Share external feedback with business leaders so that best practices can be incorporated into our strategies, business plans and reportingESG Reporting- Co-chair the ESG reporting committee- Collaborate with legal, HR, enterprise risk, and business functions in spearheading the planning and writing of TMX’s annual ESG report- Conduct peer benchmarking to evaluate the organization's progress in ESG reporting matters to inform our strategy and action plans- Participate in conferences, round-tables and keep up to date on the latest global ESG reporting and standards development- Lead and engage with internal stakeholders to prepare TMX for future disclosure requirements- Responsible for project managing TMX’s annual carbon footprint data gathering and reporting with third party consultant

ESG Ratings and Rankings- Develop and recommend a strategy on responding to ESG rating survey requests, in conjunction with the ESG reporting committee- Manage and lead projects; work collaboratively across different functions to ensure timely and appropriate responses to targeted surveys- Monitor ESG ratings to identify and develop actionable plans to enhance TMX’s position that is aligned with overall strategy- Conduct peer analysis on ratings and methodologies to inform strategy to enhance TMX’s ESG ratings and position in the market
