**The Role**:
The Summer Student building maintenance worker plays a key role supporting the Facilities and Maintenance department to ensure a high level of service and safety within the Edmonton Humane Society. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial, and administrative duties to help maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for staff, volunteers, animals, and the public.

**Key Roles & Responsibilities**:
Building Maintenance
- Assist with basic repairs and general maintenance tasks
- Receive and restock supplies across various areas
- Support the facilities crew with daily operational tasks
- Help conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and utilize appropriate safety equipment
- Monitor inventory levels and report low supplies
- Assist with donation sorting and stock rotation

Groundskeeping & Custodial Duties
- Clean exterior areas and remove debris using hand tools or small power equipment
- Perform custodial tasks (e.g., mopping, polishing, dusting) under the direction of the Team Lead, Facilities

Administrative Support
- Help maintain maintenance records and receipts
- Assist with tracking and following up on maintenance contracts as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Education & Requirements**:

- Completed High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous experience in building maintenance or related operations considered an asset
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification is an asset
- Comfortable working around various companion animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.)
