**Under the direction of the Coordinator and Team Lead of Employee Wellness & Disability Management, the Wellness and Disability Management Officer is responsible for**:
- Administration of the sick leave, short-term disability and long-term disability leave benefit plans
- Manage the disability claims management and WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) activities; ensuring adherence to policies and processes including forms filing, incident investigation and return to work
- Ensure workplace accommodation processes are being leveraged to achieve timely employee solutions and positive employee experience as well as fostering open and ongoing communications
- Providing advice to supervisors and staff on all wellness, sickness and disability management related issues
- Supporting employees in the return to work and workplace accommodation processes and work collaboratively with Human Resources Officers regarding workplace accommodations and return to work plans
- Management of case files including support to staff through all stages of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury while ensuring relevant and appropriate medical documentation is collected
- Collaborate with supervisors regarding disability management and absence prevention
- Oversee and maintain contact with staff on incidental and short-term sick leaves
- Facilitate employee re-integration to the workplace through planning, implementation and coordinating timely modified work programs
- Liaise and ensure timely completion of all documents with other health care professionals, third party providers, disability insurance carriers, WSIB, LTD and obtain further information as required
- Coordinate the process and placement of employees with complex accommodations needs
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and evaluations of workstations, equipment, and tools to identify potential risk factors and areas for improvement at various schools across the OCSB and the board office as required
- Provide training and information sessions as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Minimum 3-5 years’ related work experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- A Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or a Certificate in Disability Management is considered an asset
- Experience working with WSIB claims, accommodations and disability management, and employee investigations
- Demonstrated knowledge of disability management principles and practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of ergonomic principles
- Proven knowledge of human resources practices and processes, specifically related to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), WorkplaceSafety Insurance Act (WSIA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and other legislation as they relate to disability management and related areas
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- A valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle is required
- Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
**This is a full time (1.0 FTE) permanent position with a salary range of $92,779 - $100,637. There is also a benefits and pension plan available.**
