**Machine Operator**

Solo Cable is currently recruiting a **Machine Operators** to join our operations in **Southwestern** **Ontario** for a **permanent, full-time** position.
- Work focused in Southwestern Ontario - may extend to 200 kilometers
- Head Office - Brantford

- Valid, clean Ontario G class License (D/A/AR an asset but not required)
- Previous experience in the fields of Construction / Telecommunications or transferable skills that align
- Alternate but comparable in-field work experience is an asset
- Knowledge of landscaping/concrete/asphalt repair techniques is an asset
- Practiced knowledge of Book 7 is an asset
- Willing to commute throughout Southwestern Ontario (may extend up to 200 km)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate _before_ starting work (required); A relocation package is not available.

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Willing to work over-time and in all weather conditions
- Willing to cross-train and develop skillset; occasionally fulfilling a role on our Horizontal Directional Drilling team
- Willing to commute throughout Southwestern Ontario
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks, managing time efficiently
- Able to do physically demanding work i.e., digging and carrying of heavy equipment
- Basic math skills; understanding of measurement
- Excellent collaboration/communication skills; able to communicate and receive direction from others
- Must be safety conscious
- Mechanically inclined; able to maintain company trucks, machinery or tools assigned, trouble-shoot, repair and replace when appropriate
- Geographical knowledge sufficient to read maps and follow directions
- Read and understand blueprints, utility locate markings, schematics and manuals, gauges, dials, and other indicators and adjust as necessary
- Competent problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service
- Able to work efficiently with mínimal supervision; self-motivated, disciplined, organized and a team player

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate heavy machinery to assist in the construction, deconstruction, and maintenance of telecommunication structures including but not limited to:

- dig, lift or move sand, gravel, or earth in work sites
- restoration of customer property and other work sites
- light repairs of outdoor spaces, demolition, and general cleaning as needed
- Load, unload, and move equipment
- Drive and skillfully maneuver large trailers as safe as possible
- As required, complete a range of physically demanding tasks like:

- Handling and distributing materials
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Lift/carry tools and equipment
- Assisting in pulling of cables
- Use a variety of tools such as: chain saws, cement cutting saw, mini-excavators, small vibrating plough, jump jacks, trenchers etc.
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with Company protocols

**Requirements**:

- **Clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR Abstract to be insurable**:

- **Must be eligible to work in Canada**:

- **Language: fluent in English**:

- **Must provide own Steel Toed Safety boots and work pants**:

- **Proper emergency procedure knowledge for the safe operation of Machinery**:

- **Minimum 1 Years Experience Operating Machinery (skid-steers, vibratory ploughs, backhoes, excavators, etc.)**:

- **Machine Operator training preferred (proof of training required)**:

- **AZ/DZ License preferred**:

- **Previous experience working in construction and maintenance of telecommunications an asset**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
