Winnipeg, Canada Paramount Service Ltd. Full time

The Payroll Specialist position ensures accurate processing of the company’s in-house, multi-location, bi-weekly payroll. Duties include payroll related data entry into the Payroll system, processing of employee wages, and verifying all tax related and benefit related deductions are accurate. The position will also entail certain general accounting related responsibilities.

**Essential Functions**:
Perform daily payroll department operations

Manage workflow to ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely

Audit and approve hours worked within the time keeping system

Accurately process employee pay

Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance

Audit biweekly payroll before transmitting

Run and audit payroll and benefit related reports

Process accurate and timely Biweekly, Quarterly and Annual payroll tax reconciliations

Develop in depth understanding of Payroll Database to be able to create Ad-Hoc reports on demand

Employment verification requests

Provide customer service to employees and managers to resolve payroll related questions

Other month-end accounting/projects as assigned

General accounting responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to, payables/receivables data entry, journal entries and reconciliation of payroll and benefit accounts, and review of employee expense reporting system

**Education & Experience**:
College degree or equivalent experience

2-4 years of experience processing payroll

Knowledge of payroll laws, rules, regulations, audit and internal control guidelines

Experience with Ceridian

Ability to adapt quickly to change

Strong written and verbal communication skills

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
Strong analytical and problem solving skills; Effective problem solver with a bias towards proactive behavior.

Ability to multi-task and meet required deadlines

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail and organization skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Ability to maintain highly confidential information
