**Responsibilities**:

- Manage and maintain the daily operations of the accounting department including:

- payroll and benefits
- month and end-year process
- general ledger
- bank reconciliation and expense accounting
- invoicing and accounts receivable (support to AR team)
- payments to vendors and accounts payable (support to AP team)
- inter-company reconciliations
- deposits and prepaid expenses
- accruals
- variance analysis
- check runs
- capital and operational lease commitments and payments
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial statements and reports
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods and processes
- Assist the VP Finance in coordination and completion of annual audits
- Ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Meet financial accounting objectives
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (Canadian accounting designation is an asset)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing accounting or finance functions including 3 years in Canada
- Strong Working proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise including hands on payroll accounting and administration skills
- Experience in transportation industry or else fast-paced industry is an asset
- Solid leadership abilities and proven track record of success
- Strong people management skills and ability to motivate
- Efficiency expert
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion
- Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
