The Program aims to deliver high quality and timely interventions to individual’s with acute symptoms of illness who may have been admitted to hospital or be at risk of admission. The Mental Health Clinician will require excellent psycho-social assessment skills and the ability to develop and implement client-centered care plans. Group based interventions will be a significant part of the service and experience of CBT/DBT is required. First-time experience of mental illness has a significant impact on families. Experience of family engagement, education and interventions is also required. The program will be recovery focused and the Mental Health Clinician will need to initiate and maintain effective community connections to aid the reintegration of clients through employment, schooling and other activities.

This is a contract position (26 months) and reports to the Manager of Outpatient Mental Health at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Health Related field, i.e. Social Work, Occupational Therapy (OT), Nursing.
- Registration with regulatory college in good standing.
- Minimum 5 years’ mental health experience (program development would be an asset).
- Sound knowledge of Ontario mental health legislation and DSM V classifications.
- Demonstrated ability to intervene in an appropriate and safe manner with individuals experiencing an acute mental health crisis.
- Experience providing brief psychotherapies, supportive counseling, group and family interventions; Family Intervention Therapy (FIT) certification or willingness to obtain considered an asset.
- Commitment to the principles of the Recovery Model and Trauma Informed Care; Level 1 or 2 Trauma Training or willingness to obtain considered an asset.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Contribute to program development, including quality improvement.
- Advanced problem solving skills are required and an ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Think critically, set prioritizes and organize work in response to client needs.
- Able to function well under pressure and in a fluid environment.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset. Satisfactory attendance record.
