To support us on our journey, Sinai Health is looking for a **Mental Health Clinician** to support our **General Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic** in the **Department of Psychiatry** at our **Mount Sinai Hospital** Campus.
**Position Summary**:
- Coordinates and provides clinical care that both facilitates and supports recovery for patients facing a broad range of mental health and addiction challenges
- Ability to triage, complete mental health assessments, formulate and develop care plans and psychosocial interventions and treatment plans with ongoing collaboration and communication with the inter-professional team and with the client’s social and community networks
- Utilizes and demonstrates a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and clinical competence in caring for patients with psychiatric illness
- Assists with resource navigation and develops linkages within MSH/SH and with non-hospital community services and organizations to enhance continuity of care for patients
- Ability to provide both individual and group treatments in various modalities in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner
- Adapts approach to meet the demands and needs of constantly changing conditions, situations and people
- Promotes and supports the maintenance of safe patient care in a work environment that encompasses a trauma-informed care approach
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities and engages in reciprocal relationships of learning with colleagues to stay current in the field
- Supports the achievement of departmental goals
- Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
- Job Requirements- Successful completion of Master’s degree in a health-related discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Bachelors of Nursing
- Current member in good standing with a relevant regulatory college
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a mental health setting
- Familiarity with psychotherapeutic techniques targeting mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use and motivation for change through both individual and group modalities
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention skills, support for addiction issues, interventions for severe and persistent mental illness
- Excellent organizational, communication, time management and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, mental health reform principles, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirements
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
- Proactively able to identify opportunities for and make continuous process improvement to prevent harm and improve client outcomes.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance
- Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice
- Demonstrated decision making, problem recognition, problem solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
