Paid Media Strategist

Hamilton, Canada Operatic Agency Full time

Operatic Agency is not just another creative digital agency—we're a powerhouse of research, strategy, storytelling, and technology that fuels business growth. Named one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies five years in a row, we bring brands closer to their audiences with bold ideas and cutting-edge executions.
If you’re passionate about transforming ideas into impactful narratives, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and are eager to make a difference, we want you on our team
**About the Role**:
As a Paid Media Strategist at Operatic Agency, you’ll oversee the portfolio of paid media accounts on the consumer side of our business, bringing performance and storytelling to life by connecting the dots between omnichannel strategy, consumer behaviour, and measurable results. (Note: Operatic works across both pharmaceutical and consumer verticals
- this role focuses solely on the latter.)
This is a digitally native, strategy-first role, supported by a team of platform specialists and media buyers responsible for campaign execution and optimization.
Reporting to the Director of Omnichannel Media, you’ll lead the planning and oversight of integrated media campaigns that meet clients where they are and guide them to where they need to go.
**What you’ll be doing**:
Client Ownership
- Develop a deep understanding of your clients’ industries, business goals, target audiences, and competitive landscapes in consumer-facing verticals
- Serve as a strategic media partner to clients alongside our client success team, working in tandem in helping clients understand the “why” behind channel decisions, budget allocation, performance metrics, and optimization strategies
- Translate business objectives into full-funnel, omnichannel media plans that drive measurable impact
- Support internal and external presentations by articulating media strategies in a way that’s clear, actionable, and aligned with broader marketing goals

Technical Expert
- Lead the development and optimization of omnichannel paid media campaigns, with a focus on digital channels such as Meta, Google, and programmatic, while integrating select offline channels like print, radio, or out-of-home to drive holistic media performance
- Collaborate closely with media buyers, platform specialists, and vendors to ensure accurate campaign setup, execution, and optimization
- allowing you to concentrate on strategic planning, measurement, and learning agendas
- Oversee budget management, forecasting, and pacing accuracy across campaigns; guide budget allocations, channel mix decisions, and media strategy based on performance data and forecasting models to identify scaling opportunities and minimize waste.
- Analyze cross-channel performance to generate strategic insights that influence cross-functional decisions and uncover growth opportunities aligned with client KPIs and business outcomes
- Stay current with trends, tools, and platform updates across the digital media landscape to ensure the agency remains at the forefront of innovation

Creative Problem Solving
- Provide thought leadership on how creative and media work together to influence consumer action, offering input on formats, messaging, sequencing, and A/B testing strategies to optimize campaign effectiveness.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve campaign performance through targeting, creative, audience strategies, and systematic testing of variants to inform data-driven decisions
- Contribute to the evolution of internal processes, tools, and reporting frameworks that elevate performance media practice
- Challenge assumptions, pressure-test briefs, and help drive more strategic thinking within campaign planning

Collaboration & Communication
- Take a strategy-first approach, partnering closely with Accounts and Creative teams to ensure media campaigns are integrated, insight-driven, and deeply aligned with client goals
- Participate in regular client check-ins and performance reviews, delivering insights with clarity and confidence
- Support junior team members by providing mentorship, guidance, and quality control across campaign development and reporting

**What you’ll bring to the role**:

- A degree or diploma in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field
- 3-5 years of digital media planning and buying experience, ideally within an agency, startup, or omnichannel marketing environment, including a minimum of 3 years in a client-facing role
- Proficiency in analyzing core performance metrics (ROAS, CAC, CPA, CTR, conversion rate etc.) to inform media strategy and optimize campaign outcomes
- Proven expertise across major ad platforms including Google Ads (Search, Display, Performance Max, YouTube), Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and programmatic DSPs, with familiarity in emerging platforms such as Reddit Ads and Pinterest
- Comfort with analytics and reporting tools such as GA4, GTM, Looker Studio, Supermetrics, Tableau, and SEMRush,
