**VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR POSITION (In-Person, Calgary-Based)**
Ups and Downs is a registered not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to supporting individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and their support networks. Our vision is to promote lifelong partnerships that foster family connections, friendships, healthy lifestyles, an inclusive community, and a future without limits. As we continue to grow, we are excited to add a **Volunteer Coordinator** to our team to help achieve these goals.
Volunteers are the heart of Ups and Downs, and we couldn’t carry out our mission without them We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized individual to lead the onboarding, engagement, and support of new and current volunteers in Calgary. This in-person role is essential to the success of our events and programs, which are designed to provide valuable experiences for our members and volunteers alike.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll work alongside a talented team of volunteers to support a variety of member events and programs. In this position, you will have access to robust data management tools to help you organize, recruit, train, and engage volunteers. You’ll collaborate closely with other volunteers, including the Program Coordinator, Communications Volunteers, and Member Relations Volunteer, to ensure a smooth and fulfilling experience for everyone involved. This is an in-person role based in Calgary, and your presence at events and meetings will be key to the success of our organization.
**Major Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Actively recruit volunteers using various in-person and online techniques.
- Track and manage volunteer information, commitments, and requirements.
- Organize and conduct in-person training sessions as needed.
- Manage volunteer schedules for daily activities at Calgary-based events.
- Assign responsibilities based on volunteer strengths and event needs.
- Regularly communicate with Event Coordinators and volunteers to ensure smooth event execution.
- Foster a positive and inclusive working environment for all volunteers.
- Provide ongoing support, feedback, and development opportunities for volunteers.
- Identify potential volunteers for leadership roles, such as Volunteer Leads or Organization Coordinators.
- Track and evaluate volunteer hours and performance at in-person events.
- Continuously improve the volunteer program by providing feedback to the Ups and Downs office.
**Time Commitment**:
- Most of the time commitment for this role will be required during the Ups and Downs event season (September-June).
- Flexible schedule, but in-person attendance will be required for Calgary events.
**Education**:
- High School Diploma or higher education.
**Preferred Skills and Qualifications**:
- Previous experience coordinating and managing volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Office Suite is an asset.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with database administration.
