The **JUNIOR** **DISPATCHER** is responsible for answering incoming requests for pickups and delivery of cargo. Also responsible for communicating with Drivers to ensure they receive the orders and instructions for the pickups and deliveries. Dispatchers will monitor situations to locate the best routes and keep track of the locations of the Drivers. The Dispatcher coordinates and optimizes delivery schedules. They will work to resolve any logístical problems that arise such as traffic or other delays. They must always ensure proper safety procedures are being carried out.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Answer client enquiries and provide solutions (internal and external customers).
- Arrange & schedule the delivery and pick up of freight for the Drivers, maintaining focus that meets client needs and schedules.
- Communicate with customers to arrange suitable times for pick-up and deliveries.
- Coordinate with Drivers all shipment details and clarify deadlines.
- Create optimal routes and make changes throughout the day as situations arise.
- Maintain records of dispatched calls, driver routes, delivery and pick up schedules, including truck repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure drivers are also keeping accurate records.
- Where required have drivers provide photos of condition of cargo at pick up to avoid damage claims.
- Identify issues that may impede trips and propose solutions (tracking weather, traffic issues, warehouse delays, and any other problems that may arise).
- Generate necessary documentation for each movement especially relating to Dangerous Goods and ensure appropriate Placards are in place. Ensure drivers have all the proper documents they’ll need to complete trips.
- Negotiate competitive carrier rates for outsourced movements.
- End of day billing and invoicing.
- All duties to be performed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Enter all relevant shipment information into the operating system.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:

- High School Diploma.
- One (1) year previous administrative experience, preferably in logistics/distribution.
- Dispatch experience is strongly preferred.
- Forklift License preferred, however if not available, we will provide the required training.
- Fast and accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly.
- Strong desire to learn on the job and take additional training as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
- Ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems to determine resolution.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Effective time management - ability to manage self, time and priorities.
