**Summary of Duties**:
Reporting to the Manager II, Recreation Programming and Leadership OR the Manager II, Community and Seniors’ Centres, and working as part of an interdependent team, the responsibilities of the Supervisor I, Recreation Services range from community centre management to recreation program delivery and community enablement/engagement. The Supervisor will contribute recreation skills, expertise, and assets to the goal of building healthy/strong communities and neighbourhoods.

**Work Performed**:

- Responsible for supervising employees including hiring, administration, training and performance aspects of reporting employees; including casual staff. Respond to and refer sensitive and confidential human resource issues as required.
- Provide leadership in the execution and delivery of services and programs in the following areas of accountability:

- Plan, support, implement and manage community enablement/engagement initiatives, projects and strategies and community recreation programs for all ages and demographics, within London’s recreation service system; including design, creation, promotion, analysis and evaluation.
- Increase awareness on the benefits of participating in recreation programs and activities, and assess recreation service system for local trends and gaps
- Implement and manage program and/or facility-related quality assurance programs.
- Manage community recreation centres through participation in planning and design of new facilities or renovations projects.
- Plan, schedule, and manage space and time allocations of community centres.
- Promote public use of community centres.
- Integrate community centres into the network of neighbourhood hubs.
- Develop, build, and maintain partnerships, collaborations, initiatives, and relationships with citizens, community and neighbourhood groups, organizations and networks.
- Provide liaison services between citizens, resident groups, partner organizations or collaborations and the civic administration - particularly on matters related to recreation and parks.
- Build collaborations with other recreation service providers to enhance recreation program services for Londoners.
- Encourage and support employee participation and commitment to divisional and organizational objectives. Actively mentor, provide development opportunities and build team performance with direct reports.
- Demonstrate commitment to supporting anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and promote programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Track performance measures for Unit deliverables using appropriate data collection and analytics.
- Build and encourage employee commitment to a high level of performance in all areas of customer service, employee safety and delivery of individual goals and objectives.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage operating budgets within areas of responsibility. Recommend budget needs to manager and initiate actions to operate within fiscal plans.
- Prepare reports and/or presentations as required.
- Undertake special community and departmental projects as assigned.
- Represent the Area/Division/Service Area on internal/external committees as required.
- Participate in emergency response situations (including Reception Centre operation) as required.
- Required to work outside regular working hours, including standby assignments.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Completion of High Five Healthy Child Development program.
- Current First Aid Certification; Current CPR Certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the above identified areas of accountability with an understanding of the Unit’s programs and services.
