**Summary of Duties**:

- Recreation programs provide all citizens the opportunity to improve self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness and social skills through a variety of crafts, arts, and physical activities._

**_ Role:_** Under the supervision of a Neighbourhood and Community-Wide Services Supervisor, the Instructor is responsible for leading a high-quality program at specific site locations throughout the City of London, including programs in Art, Sports, Dance, Cooking or General Interest.

**Work Performed**
- Lead high quality recreation activities that ensure participants are fully engaged and having fun in a safe environment (Programs include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, variety of sports, dance, chemistry, drawing and sketching, etc.).
- Create and implement program plans with the support of resources provided by Supervisors.
- Maintain daily records of attendance, accident reports, injuries, and safety checks.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with participants, parents, the general public, school personnel and coworkers.
- Communicate program supply needs to Program Coordinator and/or Supervisor as required.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities are in safe working condition and report any concerns to Supervisor.
- Assist with the distribution of program literature as required.
- Ensure all City of London policies and practices are adhered to.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Experience working with children in a recreation environment, with a minimum of one year experience an asset.
- Able to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Second language is an asset (please indicate on resume).

**Other Requirements** Conditions of Employment**:

- Must be certified in HIGH FIVE® - Healthy Child Development and Standard First Aid prior to start of programs.
- Must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) that is less than 12 months old.
- Completion of training modules prior to start of programs (details available at interview).
- Minimum age 16 by start of programs.
- Majority of shifts occur during evenings and weekends

Please note: Program sites are located throughout the City. Applicant will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the program site(s).

**Compensation and Other Information** Wages**:
Starting at $15.00 per hour. *Wages may increase as a result of minimum wage increase.

Hours may vary depending on number of programs agreed to work.

**Employment Period**:
Duration of employment will depend on class and participant registration. Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring sessions run for a minimum of 8 weeks each.
