The Newcomer Centre's Community Programs deliver holistic and comprehensive programming to promote meaningful community participation and reduce isolation. The current programs in this area include:

- Empowered Communities (Ethnocultural Community Leader Empowerment)
- Global Garden
- IWIN (Immigrant Women’s Integration Network)
- S.K.Y Club (Support for Kids and Youth)
- Global Girls
- Youth Leading Change
- Volunteer Services

The Community Programs Department delivers programming through a combination of approaches, such as prevention, human-centred design, and community-driven models. Your core work will be in Youth Leading Change, and other youth programming as needed, as we aim to work collaboratively to support individuals and their families holistically. This role brings together leadership skills, facilitation expertise, project coordination, and program development experience to deliver programming that is empowering, inclusive, and equitable.

**about**_Youth Leading Change_**

The Youth Leading Change program empowers newcomer youth through flexible volunteer placements and dynamic learning opportunities. The program focuses on two key areas**:Skill Building through Volunteering**—hands-on community service driven by youth-selected social issues, and **Learning & Knowledge Sharing**—interactive Action Learning Days and career development sessions. Participants will enhance their civic engagement, build life and leadership skills, and explore diverse career pathways with mentorship from BIPOC and immigrant professionals. Youth Leading Change aims to equip youth to make meaningful contributions to their communities while preparing them for future employment and personal growth.

**the opportunity**

The Coordinator of the Youth Leading Change program oversees the program's strategic implementation, focusing on building partnerships, managing a team of staff, and ensuring program delivery meets targets. They are responsible for monitoring progress, liaising with program funders, and managing the program's budget. The role emphasizes collaboration with community partners and internal teams to ensure effective support for youth participants. While the Coordinator’s focus will be Youth Leading Change, this role may also support program planning and implementation of other youth programming at the Newcomer Centre.

**Staff and Volunteer Support**:

- Supervise program staff, providing leadership, guidance and support.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure clear communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff as needed.

**Program Development and Management**:

- Lead planning and implementation of the Youth Leading Change program model, in collaboration with the Community Programs Manager.
- Develop program operating procedures and other program implementation tools.
- Oversee the planning and execution of program activities, ensuring they align with Youth Leading Change’s goals and objectives.
- Monitor and manage the Youth Leading Change program budget, in collaboration with Community Programs Manager.
- Maintain ongoing two-way communication with Youth Leading Change funders.

**Partnership Development**:

- Identify and establish meaningful partnerships with local organizations, educational institutions, and community groups.
- Collaborate with partners to enhance program offerings and resources.
- Collaborate with other Newcomer Centre programs to advance a coordinated approach to youth programming within the agency.

**Program Evaluation**:

- Lead the collection and analysis of program data to evaluate outcomes and impact, modifying evaluation tools and processes as needed.
- Provide regular program reports to the Community Programs Manager and formal reports to the program funder.
- Implement improvements based on feedback and evaluation results.

**what it takes**

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. The most helpful history will include 3 years of experience in offering community-based programming and working with immigrant and refugee communities, preferably youth, and experience coordinating programming and supervising staff. A post-secondary diploma in a community-related field, social services, education or social science is an asset but not a requirement.
