Position Overview
The Youth Program Coordinator, reporting to the Youth Programs Manager, is responsible for coordinating mentoring relationships for youth, as well as planning, organizing, and overseeing all youth-related program activities. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining program documentation, ensuring that key deadlines are met and implementing the mentorship and leadership goals of the program.
Responsibilities
- Engage with external organizations to expand and enhance program’s reach and efficiency.
- Work closely with Youth Programs Manager to deliver leadership activities including events, workshops and trainings.
- Provide regular updates to the Youth Programs Manager on program progress.
- Coordinate mentorship activities including recruitment, matching, supporting and supervision of mentor mentee relationships.
- Liaise with facilities and stakeholders to effectively deliver all program activities.
- Oversee group mentoring, events, data collection, and program evaluation.
- Orient and train volunteers ensuring clarity and understanding of program guidelines.
- Represent the program at community meetings and events
- Prepare and maintain documentation for volunteers and participants in the program.
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data for program evaluation and other purposes.
- Prepare program reports
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma related to human services (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Education).
- Demonstrated cultural competence and clear understanding of barriers and challenges faced by African/Black youths.
- Experience with program coordination, project planning and event management.
- Excellent organization, time management and priority-setting skills.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and google suite.
- The following will be considered as assets:
- Experience with intake and assessment of youth and adults.
- Capacity to speak French or another major African language.
- Database experience: data entry, database management, tracking participant data,
- Experience with the use of social media for networking and marketing purposes.
Requirements
- 40 hours/week which will involve some weekday evening and/or weekend hours.
- Applicant must be available to work Thursdays 6pm – 8pm and Sundays 4pm – 6pm.
- Applicant must own a vehicle with valid driver’s license and insurance.
