The Position:
As a Community Specialists (CS) you would be an ally and ambassador, you will work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us.
Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious CS will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.
- Provide direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun and safe environment
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
- Empower people to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Communicate effectively with their team members, which includes to individuals, families, and co-workers
- Build a vision of inclusion, one person at a time

- Perform other job-related activities as required
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and little or no work-related experience. May consider equivalent combination of education and experience
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values
- Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required
- Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration Certification, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset
Working Conditions
- Hearts in Action Summer Camps provides fun and meaningful activities that support the growth of real relationships and belonging.
- Working within the Edmonton Area at temporary camp locations reporting to the assigned Program Manager, this is a full-time seasonal position. Camps run from July 2, 2025 to August 22, 2025. Schedule is Monday to Friday. Hours of work are scheduled between 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Core schedule is 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with potential to work before or after to meet the needs of programs.
- Funding for Summer Positions
AdaptAbilities utilizes Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Grant for various temporary summer positions. CSJ is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help youth in Canada develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market. The program provides wage subsidies to employers to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Youth must be eligible to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
**Note**: These are not requirements to be considered for the role but do determine grant eligibility.
Compensation $18.75 to $22.82/ hour depending on experience and education
