The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for a complex union and non-union payroll that remits weekly. Your keen eye for detail, organizational and communication skills will ensure Gateway Mechanical is an employer of choice with our growing team.

**What you will be doing**:

- Effectively use Dayforce (soon to implement ADP) to ensure all salary and hourly employee pay is processed accurately; including pay changes, and on time on a weekly basis utilizing the payroll checklist as a guide;
- Audit Dayforce & ADP payroll processing system and generate reports to ensure accuracy and reconciliation
- Prepare, track and submit ROEs, tax forms, benefit remittances and union dues as required to governing bodies;
- Keep up to date with current CRA payroll guidelines and processes and ensure Gateway is in compliance with Government and any other third-party requirements;
- Ensure monthly union remittances are accurately calculated and remittance requisition sent to accounting for approval and processing;
- Ensure LTD premiums and taxable benefits are tracked, up to date, and deducted monthly from employees currently on the Gateway benefit program;
- Ensure car and cell phone allowances are paid on a monthly basis according to Employee Employment contracts;
- Track vacation entitlements on a quarterly basis and provide finance with a monthly liability vacation accrual report;
- Year-end, T4, and T2200 processing;
- Research discrepancies in the payroll of payroll information and or documentation (ex: timesheets/leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy prior to processing and collaborating with Dayforce or ADP to problem solve issues;
- Appropriate handling of confidential information and response to employees is friendly and timely.

**What you bring**:

- 5 years of previous experience in a similar role;
- Knowledge of payroll auditing, income tax forms, benefit programs, sick pay, and RRSP plans;
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel & Outlook;
- Advanced proficiency with ADP software is required;
- Proven knowledge of accounting;
- Advanced proficiency with Dayforce software is an asset;
- CPM or PCP certification is an asset;
