**About Us**

Mill Creek Sand & Gravel is a third generation, family-owned independent company focused on processing and manufacturing aggregates for the Western Canadian markets.

We are currently hiring for the position of:
**Payroll and Benefits Administrator**

Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for ensuring employees are compensated correctly and on time, administrating the benefits program, supporting a range of other finance and accounting related activities and ensuring accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**:

- Process timesheets to ensure proper completion and authorization.
- Input, verify and process bi-weekly payroll, including salaried and hourly pay.
- Ensure the pay run is complete and accurate in terms of employee hours, changes, approvals, overtime, voluntary and statutory deductions and taxable benefits in accordance with company policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
- Prepare the payroll related remittances for employees and government source deductions on time.
- Prepare and reconcile bi-weekly journal entries.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations and assist with year-end close processes.
- Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, T4s and Records of Employment.
- Process new hires, employee terminations and employee status changes.
- Prepare and maintain related payroll records and reports.
- Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll related matters.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal and Provincial legislation within Canada and remain current with new and revised payroll regulations
- Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data and benefit administration.
- Responsible for the administration of employee benefit programs.

**Skills**:**Technical**
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner preferred or working towards.
- 3+ years of related experience in payroll.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Has a working knowledge of full cycle accounting.

- Demonstrates results-driven work ethic and accountability for assigned duties and tasks.
- Has strong communication and client service skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and analytical skills.
- Can identify process improvements and effectively communicate recommendations to supervisors.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Licence/Certification:

- Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation (preferred)
