At the STEAM Academy, students have an opportunity to earn a high school diploma, an industry-recognized college diploma, and gain relevant work experience in their field of study. The school creates a seamless program for students to acquire the academic, technical, and workplace skills and knowledge that employers need.

**Function & Overview**

Under the supervision of the STEAM Academy Principal, the Development Officer - STEAM Academy plans, coordinates, and supports the ongoing programming within the school. The Development Officer - STEAM Academy works collaboratively with school administration and Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) leadership to promote institutional growth and alignment with relevant regulatory guidelines. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Development Officer - STEAM Academy helps to ensure compliance with SNP’s strategic goals, performs research on various projects and proposals, prepares financial projections, and works in close collaboration with STEAM Academy’s external partners.

The Development Officer - STEAM Academy is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of SNP while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

**Duties**

The duties of the Development Officer - STEAM Academy include, without limitation:
**Projects, Initiatives, and Proposals**
- Preparing funding proposals for the benefit of STEAM Academy within a defined project deliverable, identifying tangible results, monitoring work and expenditures, submitting required reports, and ensuring compliance with SNP’s specific funding strategies, policies and procedures;
- Establishing project milestones and working to complete projects effectively within a predetermined budget;
- Developing and maintaining a current library of project summaries and specification details to be used in various submission documents;
- Assuming the lead role with P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College Highschool), and attending stakeholder and committee meetings which may include: working outside of normal working hours, responding in a timely manner to requests for information, and liaising with representatives from Mohawk College, IBM, & SNP IS;
- Coordinating IBM Open P-TECH meetings and events;
- Assisting with the coordination of the OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) at STEAM Academy;
- Collaborating with STEAM Academy and McMaster University Science Fair;
- Organizing scholarships with external stakeholders and organizations;
- Participating in regular check-in meetings with the Principal and Director of STEAM Academy to ensure communications are clear and expectations are being met while completing designated projects and initiatives;
- Coordinating and submitting monthly and special reports to the Principal concerning key issues, for STEAM Academy Steering Committee;
- Preparing submission timelines and outlines, and clearly defining and communicating information requirements to Operations, Finance and other departments, as appropriate;
- Demonstrating fiscal responsibility and effective record-keeping by providing detailed activity descriptions related to expenditures when managing incoming project funding;
- Assisting in the timely response of questions posed by potential funders and donors regarding funding submissions, and working with SNP Advancement to ensure compliance with applicable policies regarding donations;

**General Administration**
- Developing an approved work plan for the efficient and effective discharge of all tasks and activities;
- Knowing, understanding, and following existing SNP policies and processes, while supporting the collaborative development and effective implementation of new and emergent policies and processes;
- Assisting the Principal and SNP Marketing & Communications Manager with the coordination of STEAM Academy promotions and marketing as it relates to media communication activities, and to improve communication with parents and the community;
- Adhering to all SNP staff policies and processes, including conforming to deadlines and reporting requirements;
- Participating in, and maintaining a supportive environment conducive to learning and working at SNP STEAM Academy;
- Performing delegated administrative management tasks; and
- Other related dutie
