The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Team Lead provides leadership, coordination of patient activities/care, and provides support to all clinical colleagues in problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, and conflict resolution to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day clinical operations and activities of the ICU, that supports high quality, safe and patient/family care. This role includes but is not limited to:

- Offer professional guidance and support to patients and families, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team.
- Acts as a resource to nursing colleagues in the provision of safe nursing care in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice.
- Works closely, collaborates and partners with ICU Manager on a regular basis regarding operational and clinical needs of the ICU
- Assist in modification of patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions, in collaboration with the Intensivist
- Act as a mentor to novice staff members facilitating patient orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
- Offers support and guidance during the on-boarding process for new nurses and staff
- Works collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues internal and external to the unit, and organization ,to facilitate safe and timely patient flow and care
- Maintains standardized work as required related to LEAN quality improvement initiatives.
- Cultivates relationships and builds trust with all members of the interdisciplinary team
- Cultivates relationships with regional hospital partners
- Contributes to a safe working environment and supports well-being of the team
- Works collaboratively with the ICU educator in the development and promotion of new policies, best practices, and standard operating procedures
- Ability to provide full patient care and take on a full patient assignment as needed

**HOURS**:
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- Registered Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BScN preferred or combination of skills and experience
- Demonstrated communication skills that are reflective of the core values of the organization.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence with an ability to support and lead others.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in conflict prevention and resolution.
- Ability to adapt & work in a constantly changing environment.
- Proven ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s attendance at work program
- Demonstrated evidence-based decision making, critical thinking and problem solving;
- Demonstrated leadership, team development, and facilitation skills coupled with superior interpersonal, relationship and communication skills;
- Demonstrates STEGH values and the ability to promote values of shared leadership and inter-professional team collaboration;
- Demonstrated learning agility and commitment to professional development and the development of others;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of professionals;

**UNIT SPECIFIC SKILLS**:

- Minimum of 5 years of progressive critical care experience with demonstrated excellence in Clinical Practice
- Critical Care Certification through the Canadian Nurses Association preferred
- ACLS required
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate
- 5 and 12 Lead ECG Rhythm Interpretation
- Defibrillation Certification
- Knowledgeable in best practices and current workflow within the Intensive Care Unit
