**Financial Analyst-** Circle Community Land Trust
**About Circle Community Land Trust**: Circle is a non-profit organization founded to protect and invest in some of Toronto's last affordable family-sized homes. In June 2021, the City of Toronto chose Circle as the successful proponent to own and manage 561 houses transferred from Toronto Community Housing Corporation. For tenants, the benefits will be improved services and well-maintained homes. For Toronto, the benefits are the preservation and regeneration of hundreds of affordable houses - houses that would be impossible to replace in today's market - in mixed-income neighbourhoods.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of leaders in the social housing sector, Circle has a vision of quality, family-sized, perpetually affordable homes in inclusive communities to serve today's tenants and future generations.
The Role
The role is pivotal for helping the Finance team achieve the critical work of the Circle's mission and vision. This role is for a talented Financial Analyst, Technology savvy, a problem-solver with lots of initiative and a great sense of accountability.
The Financial Analyst is essential to the Circle Community Land Trust. The incumbent works collaboratively with the team members and reports to the Director of Finance.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Reconciles the accounts ledger at month-end and prepares adjustments to the accounts receivable system to ensure the information is accurate and always up to date.
- Works collaboratively with accounts payable and other accounting staff to ensure accuracy in month-end reporting.
- Post-month-end GL entries and amortization schedule.
- Processes Organization-wide donations and Government Grant entries, ensuring accurate account coding and allocations
- Prepares ad-hoc reports and month-end reconciliations as needed
- Ensures accuracy of monthly actuals; runs Trial Balance and reconciles the Balance sheet and Income Statement Accounts
- Experience with Budgeting, Forecasting, Reporting and Analysis.
- Reconciles all capital project expenditures and prepares reports on property and fund bases.
- Updates budget into the Accounting Software and performs the analysis.
- Reconciles all capital project expenditures and prepares ad hoc reports for lenders and consultants.
- Prepares all capital project reporting based on funders’ requirements.
- Prepares ad-hoc reports and month-end reconciliations as needed.
- Works collaboratively with the Finance Team and other Departments.
- Participate in the Implementation of the Advanced FR and Budgeting software (Power BI)
**Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**
- Experience working within community housing, the not-for-profit environment is an asset.
- Knowledge in accounting acquired through a bachelor’s degree in business accounting.
- A keen understanding of and commitment to customer service and the month-end process is essential.
- Solid and proficient computer skills are required, including knowledge of Excel. Word and accounting software and adapting to emerging technologies. (Yardi and Power BI)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to cope effectively with competing demands and priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to respond to situations using practical judgment.
- Ability to focus and concentrate on critical tasks to meet established deadlines.
- Knowledge of culturally diverse communities and working well with people from diverse backgrounds.
