We are seeking a Pathways and Activities Coordinator (Early Years to Youth) to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance the holistic development and well-being of children, youth, and families in the community. Under the direction of the Manager of Early Childhood Education and Childcare Programs, the Pathways and Activities Coordinator provides culturally informed activities for children (ages 6-12), youth (ages 12-18), and families. This role involves planning, organizing, and attending outings and cultural events, fostering connections between participants, and supporting their progression through developmental transitions. The Pathways and Activities Coordinator will also engage in community relations activities, building strong relationships to support clients and the broader community. **WORK THAT MATTERS** Sq'éwqel (Seabird Island Band) is located 1 kilometer from Agassiz, BC on the beautiful Fraser River, 120 km east of Vancouver. By joining our team, you will be part of an organization that values First Nations knowledge, promotes self-advocacy, and strives to create a holistic and culturally safe environment for all community members **We’re**hiring**| Facebook**|**LinkedIn**|**For Our Culture** **BENEFITS & PERKS** - Extended health and dental benefits, - Accrued vacation and sick time. - Pension plan with matching employer contributions, - Access to internal training programs, professional development, and skill enhancement - Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, - Casual dress code **WHAT YOU'LL DO** **Program Development and Coordination** - Develop and coordinate bi-weekly outings and cultural experiences tailored to specific age groups: - Early Years (6-12 years old): Activities held typically from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. - Youth (12-18 years old): Activities held typically from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. - Family and Community: Monthly outings that promote cultural connection and active parent participation. **ECD-Youth Planning** - Create innovative programs to support children aged 11-13 as they transition from Early Childhood Development (ECD) into Youth Programming under the Education Department. - Facilitate mentorship opportunities by pairing older youth with younger participants to provide guidance and peer support. - Develop workshops and activities that address common challenges in moving to youth programs, such as building social skills and adjusting to new environments. - Coordinate "bridge events" where children in the 11-13 age group can interact with Youth Program participants and staff in a welcoming and supportive setting. - Collaborate with ECD and Youth Program teams to create a consistent and seamless curriculum that aligns with developmental goals. **Program Delivery and Participant Engagement** - Attend all outings to actively engage with participants, ensure safety, and foster a positive environment. - Work closely with Youth Program and School Out staff to deliver seamless, high-quality programming. - Evaluate the effectiveness of outings and activities through participant feedback and post-event. - Identify and address barriers to participation, ensuring inclusivity and cultural relevance in all activities. **Resource Management and Administration** - Assist with program budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of funds and alignment with program goals. - Schedule and manage staffing requirements for outings, maintaining appropriate supervision ratios and staff support. - Build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the broader community to encourage engagement and awareness of program offerings. **Other Duties** - Additional responsibilities as needed to support the community and uphold our shared values. **WHAT YOU BRING** **Qualifications** - Diploma or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Recreation, Youth Work, or a related field. - At least 2 years of relevant experience coordinating and planning activities for children and youth. - Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues. - Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. - Strong organizational and planning skills. - Ability to build relationships with children, youth, and families. **Cultural Competency**: - Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues. - Understanding of intergenerational trauma and its impac
