**Position Summary**

We are seeking a Youth Drop-In Coordinator to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance the wellness, engagement, and development of youth in our community.
Under the direction of the Youth Drop in Team Lead, the Youth Drop-In Coordinator provides culturally informed leadership and programming to youth. This role involves planning and organizing drop-in sessions, coordinating with Schools’ Out Program, and managing all aspects of program delivery, including outreach, activity planning, facility management, and participant safety. The Youth Drop-In Coordinator will also engage in community relations activities to build trust and encourage youth participation, while supporting their wellbeing through mentorship, outreach, and resource connections.
**This position will work 2 days a week and one weekend shift. This is a one-year part time term position with an end date of March 31st, 2026.**
**What you’ll do**
**Program Planning and Coordination**
- Assist with the planning and development a variety of meaningful and engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of youth, including recreational, wellness, and cultural programs.
- Work in partnership with Early Childhood Education Schools’ Out Program to align schedules, resources, and program goals.
- Develop and maintain a program calendar, ensuring clear communication of upcoming activities to staff, youth, and families.
- Support youth wellness by integrating life skills development, healthy habits, and cultural teachings into program offerings.
- Create and distribute take-home meals, promoting nutrition and supporting youth well-being outside of program hours.
**Community Outreach and Engagement**
- Promote the program through flyers, social media, school visits, and community outreach, encouraging youth and families to participate.
- Build strong relationships with youth, families, and community partners to foster trust and consistent engagement.
- Actively encourage and support youth participation, addressing barriers and connecting youth to additional resources or programs as needed.
- Focus outreach efforts on youth at risk, identifying their needs and connecting them to the Youth and Young Adults program for further support.
**Administrative and Logistical Management**
- Handle all administrative duties related to the program, including attendance tracking, reporting, and supply inventory.
- Facilitate the flow of information between the Youth Drop-In program and Schools’ Out Program, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Maintain accurate and organized program records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Coordinate pick-up and drop-off logistics, ensuring youth are transported safely to and from the program.
**Facility and Program Support**
- Oversee all aspects of program setup, cleaning, and take-down, ensuring the facility is clean, organized, and safe for participants.
- Assist with cooking and meal preparation during program sessions, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure all equipment, supplies, and materials are properly maintained and readily available for program activities.
- Address and resolve safety or behavioral issues promptly, completing incident reports as required.
**Youth Mentorship and Support**
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where youth feel safe, valued, and respected.
- Actively engage with youth during program sessions, providing mentorship, support, and guidance as needed.
- Monitor the well-being of youth participants, addressing concerns and connecting them with resources when necessary.
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting respectful communication, collaboration, and personal growth.
**Other Duties**
- Additional responsibilities as needed to support the community and uphold our shared values.
**What you bring**
**Qualifications**:
- Diploma or certificate in social work, youth work or a related field. Other forms of post-secondary education and training, including teachings from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, will be considered.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working within Indigenous communities, focusing on youth drop-in centers.
- FoodSafe Level 1 required
- First Aid Level 1 required
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in program planning, delivery, and coordination is required.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with youth
