**Casual Custodian**

**Pay of**Rate**: $22.29 per hour**

**Location: MITT Campuses**

Reporting to the Coordinator, Custodial Services, the Custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning of assigned buildings and areas to ensure they are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. The hours of work are as required. Shift times are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Performs general, routine custodial duties, including: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, washing, scrubbing, sealing, waxing, etc. all surfaces such as floors, walls, furniture, ceilings, fixtures, and equipment.
- Cleans and disinfects sanitary fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, water fountains, etc. and restock paper and soap supplies.
- Cleans glass surfaces not requiring the use of scaffolds or safety devices.
- Cleans and maintains wax and polish finishes on floors, furniture and fixture surface coatings.
- Empties garbage/recycling receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters and recycling into the proper bins.
- Use HIPPO maintenance software to report damage or repairs requests to the Maintenance team.
- Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
- Promptly reports any mechanical or equipment failure, damage or vandalism to school property to the Lead Custodian, Maintenance or Manager, Operations.
- May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, classroom or event set-up or other similar activities.
- Locks, secures and activates building security system.
- Performs duties in compliance with MITT policies and safety regulations.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with staff, students and the public.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
- High School Diploma
- First Aid and CPR Certificate an asset
- Working knowledge of building cleaning principals and procedures.
- Familiarity with educational facilities.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and special procedures applicable to work (WHMIS and safety practices)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Preferred Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience with various cleaning equipment (burnisher, polisher, carpet shampoo machine, etc.)
- Familiarity with shift work schedule

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record check including vulnerable sector and Child Abuse Registry Check.
