Porzia’s is a small neighborhood cafe specializing in Italian classics. After a very successful take away business we have expanded and are opening a full service establishment. From fresh pasta to lasagne, focaccia, parms, sandwiches, salumi, salads, in house made pastries, soft serve and much much more. Serving wine to be enjoyed inside or take a bottle with you through our bottle shop. Located on Oakwood Ave just off Corso Italia in Toronto’s west end. Porzia’s is growing and we are looking to hire a GM that will grow with us and help build the foundation for our opening. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated individual committed to creating an inclusive, positive work environment. Create systems and policies needed for a successful opening and be hands on to oversee the day-to-day operations afterwards. Develop and maintain a small, well curated wine and beverage program.
Restaurant management experience is preferred, but experienced hospitality professionals looking to take the next step in their career are also encouraged to apply.
**QUALITIES & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a restaurant management role
- Minimum of 3 years in a high-volume environment
- Strong knowledge of wine and spirits
- Proficient computer skills (POS system, Excel, Google Apps, Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator)
- Solid understanding of budget, sales, cost of goods and labour control
- Proven success with people development, promotion from within and promoting a positive working culture
- Proven success with creating training packages including steps of service for all FOH staff
- Excellent management, communication and leadership skills
- Problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Strong worth ethic
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Create and oversee the wine and beverage program working within budgets and sales forecasts. Grow and develop relationships with wine merchants to achieve a fun, smart profitable wine and beverage program. Ongoing staff training on wine and beverage offerings
- Recruitment, orientation and training of new employees
- Coaching, motivating, scheduling and providing feedback and ongoing training of all employees; fostering a motivated, service-oriented staff culture and positive workplace environment
- Budgeting and forecasting weekly, monthly and yearly sales. Reporting daily sales, labour and location performance; and working with ownership to set and achieve labour targets and other performance goals
- Overseeing all front of house operations (in close cooperation with the Head Chef) ; and ensuring a very high standard of organization, cleanliness and execution
- Pitching in whenever required; and supporting the development and growth of the business.
- Must be actively present of the floor during the busiest hours of operation
**Salary**: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
