**Position Summary**

Promotes and enables the inclusion of children who require additional support in child care settings chosen by their families of children requiring extra support in community child care settings. This position reports to the Supported Child Development Department Leader.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**
- Participate as a team member in a family centred model of services promoting and advocating for inclusive child care services. To assist in the selection of child care placements, assessment of level of support, recruitment and support to support workers in child care settings, support to child care settings, individual program implementation, transition planning, problem solving, documentation and statistical recording.
- Determine with families and child care providers the appropriate and required types and levels of support to be provided using the Support Guide or equivalent tool.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences internally and externally acting as an advocate for the family. Complete documents, observations, and assessments as necessary to determine eligibility for SCDP.
- Maintain up to date statistical recording and recording of services provided, including direct and indirect intervention; goals; progress notes; evaluation and discharge.
- Provide or facilitate education and training to child care providers and community settings.
- Support capacity building with the Aboriginal community.
- Support and facilitate transitions to other programs including Kindergarten and to other communities.
- Support child care settings to develop and implement inclusive philosophies, practices, policies, and procedures.
- Form partnerships with other health, education, and community service providers to meet the goals of specific children and families.
- Maintain client confidentiality, professional and NCDC code of ethics.
- Collaborate and liaise with community agencies and programs as required.
- Coordinate and monitor the Support Workers specific to caseload in consultation with child care setting supervisor.
- Where applicable, monitor and mentor SCDP Support Workers.
- Be familiar with applicable NCDC and Department and zone policies and procedures.
- Maintain CARF standards
- Assist with orientation of new staff and volunteers to the NCDC and Department policies & procedures as required.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and policies.
- Participate in NCDC In-service, ad hoc and standing committees and program evaluation as requested.
- Assist in maintenance of equipment.

**Qualifications**
- Degree in a related Human Services field.
- Preference will be given to those with three to five years of experience with children with support needs and their families, in the community Human Service sector.
- Knowledge of multi-cultural issues, Aboriginal families, family systems and culturally appropriate practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of family centered practice, early intervention, child development, family support and community based knowledge.
- Knowledge of group processes and facilitation techniques an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid First Aid Certificate / CPR as required.
- Valid driver’s license and available vehicle/transportation with adequate insurance.
- Criminal record check clearance.
- Physically capable of performing all aspects of the position.
- Computer literacy.

Up to 7.5 hours per day (Monday - Friday during operating hours), some flexibility in weekly schedules.
30 hours per week - Until December 31, 2025 or the return of the incumbent.
