**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs, The Provincial Medical Affairs Lead supports all provincial networks within NSHA. This position will act as a senior level advisor to the networks providing provincial leadership by providing expert advice on medical staff issues to the networks and coordination to engaging the medical staff across all zones. This role will serve as the key contact between provincial networks and the zone medical affairs teams.
The Provincial Medical Affairs Lead will work collaboratively with the networks and the zones to support the successful implementation of all approved clinical strategies and will work closely with zone medical affairs staff and medical leadership to make recommendations for action plans to address issues. The role fosters innovation throughout the organization by contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
**Some of the duties in this role include**:
- working collaboratively with network Sr. Medical Directors and their co-lead to provide support and strategic advice to network leadership on medical staff issues, specifically focusing on:
- Supporting the ongoing work of the networks by acting as the dedicated medical affairs representative and providing specialist advice supporting all networks in their planning and functions (e.g. providing expert advice regarding physician renumeration issues and remuneration planning, ensuring detailed and timely advice is provided to network leadership on issues impacting the NSH medical staff);- Supporting the Medical Affairs Provincial and Zone teams and acting as a key support and liaison between the network and the Zone based Medical Affairs staff and Zone Medical Leadership to advance network and provincial strategies as part of their day-to-day work/projects;- In collaboration with the Network Sr. Medical Directors, participating on and supporting the Medical Affairs/DHW Physician Operations Committee, Health Authority Medical Advisory Committee and/or any other standing physician committees as required to represent and advance the medical staff priorities of the Networks and resolve any specific network issues;- Plays a lead role in supporting the research, and costing of the physician component of any business cases that support Provincial Network initiatives, working collaboratively with the Provincial Medical Affairs, and Finance teams, ensuring all aspects of physician cost impacts are clearly accounted for;- Works collaboratively with the Network medical leader to lead any Network-specific initiatives/projects or committees as required. - Provincial will be called upon to lead, in collaboration with the Medical Affairs Provincial Team, other corporate initiatives with a provincial mandate (working collaboratively with Programs, Networks, Corporate Services, DHW, Transformation Teams, or others as assigned).
- Will lead, in collaboration with the Network Sr. Medical Directors and the Network Directors (and other leaders as required) the delivery and implementation of network strategies, standards and procedures to support the NSH medical staff
- Works collaboratively with the Zone Leaders, Zone Department Heads, and the medical staff to address physician engagement issues, specifically:
- Works with key stakeholders to advance physician involvement in organization leadership and decision making
- Supports and guides physician leadership development and engagement work as required (delivering physician orientations, coordinating and supporting engagement events, leadership development workshop organization and local coordination) and interacting with the provincial physician leadership development team;
- Works collaboratively with the Medical Affairs Medical Education Team to engage directly with medical learners and residents to promote and engage the group with respect to the strategic direction of the NSH, as well as acting as an advocate for representing
