**Job Description**:
The **Network Administrator** is an integral member of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) Regional Informatics & Technology Services (ITS) team that provides RVH, our hospital partners, and internal and external customers with reliable, secure high-performance network services.
This position is responsible for the overall implementation, maintenance, monitoring and management of our network services and processes. This is a hands-on technical position requiring an experienced network administrator with excellent knowledge and understanding of RVH’s network infrastructure, physical topography, data centres, security systems, and related technologies to lead the network team’s deliverables toward achieving business goals through technology. This role works as a member of the Infrastructure & Security team.
**Education**:
- 3-year college diploma or university degree in Computer Sciences or related program and/or 5-years healthcare IT experience in an enterprise environment and appropriate professional certifications
- Cisco network certification an asset
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification, or equivalent, an asset
- ITIL certification an asset
**Experience**:
- Minimum 3 years system administration experience in large sized, multi site, enterprise scale environments
**Competencies**:
- Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols and standards including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, 802.1x, 802.11
- Extensive knowledge of network design philosophies particularly focused on a highly-available, resilient network.
- Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki networking experience
- Palo Alto and Cisco firewall experience
- Knowledge of intrusion detection systems and other network security measures
- Knowledge of DDI System (DNS, DHCP and IP Address management) with a focus of how delivering business goals.
- Knowledge of Network Load Balancing practices using a variety of available protocols and devices. (Citrix Application Delivery Controller / NetScaler, ECMP, LACP, DNS load balancing, etc)
- Knowledge of VPN configuration and use of various approaches to securely extending network connectivity while continuing to protect core assets.
- Knowledge of PKI methods and certificate use/configuration, etc
- Healthcare experience an asset
- Understanding of connected systems such as SANs, Network, Telephony, Firewalls, etc.
- Experience with system architecture from conception to deployment
- Experience with system security best practices to ensure of data loss prevention
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and understanding and adhering to policies relating to confidential information
- Excellent skill in problem recognition and problem solving, including critical incident management.
- Demonstrated contributor to a positive team spirit and attitude and lives the RVH Values
- Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals, work history and attendance records.
- Experience working with highly integrated teams.
- Must be able to manage several projects/tasks at one time.
- Experience with business analysis and requirements documentation is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and excellent data analysis skills, able to identify trends, gaps and information that can drive positive change
