Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 10 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Kitchen Department Head or his/her delegate, this position is to make, fry, cut, pack, weigh, label and prepare various food products in advance for customers to choose from in the Kitchen and Sushi department. The position is responsible for preparing various types and quantity of food items based on orders received (such as Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) and stock products onto the display cases in the sales area and display cooler. Provide good customer service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.
- Major Responsibilities: Greet customers by providing good customer service with a smile, friendly, enthusiastic; answer customers’ enquiries
- Assist customers in selecting food products (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) and provide recommendations
- Control product (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) quality, freshness, inventory level and wastage
- Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
- Make, fry, cut, pack, weigh, label and prepare various food products for customers to select (such as Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others), label them properly and display them in the display cases
- Maintain workplace cleanliness by washing and maintain relevant work tools clean and well-kept, ensure workplace safety
- Keep product display full, attractive and neat, timely replenish inventory if necessary
- Follow procedures to verify and process expired food products and manage shrinkage
- Receive products deliveries, take customers’ orders
- Ensure daily sales and other checklists are properly completed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior
- Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
- Able to stand for a long time and use work related tools in a safe manner
- Possess knowledge and prior experience in making, frying, cutting, packing, weighing, labeling and preparing various food products food products (such as Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others) is preferred
- Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification is preferred)
- Have a good understanding of food product making techniques (such as Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or others), use tools & equipment relevant to the job
- Good communication and customer service skills, good command in English
- Possess some knowledge in food products, with relevant experience display, promotion and packaging techniques is preferred
