**The Opportunity**:
Paracel Laboratories is actively searching for an** Intermediate Analyst** to work in our Metals Group. The Metals Group uses ICP-MS instrumentation to determine trace metal contamination in a range of environmental matrices including solids, water, and air. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparation, digestion, analysis, and data review of samples in a high volume, fast paced, production laboratory setting. The Intermediate Analyst will also assist the Senior Analyst to address any technical issues, ensures QA/QC compliance is maintained, and aid in the investigations of non-conformances. This is a full time, permanent position.

**Location**:
This role is **on-site**, at 2319 St. Laurent Blvd., Suite 300, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 4J8.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Operate an ICP-MS instrument for the determination of trace metals in environmental samples.
- Perform data review and upload to LIMS, ensuring all quality specifications are met.
- Perform extractions and preparations of environmental samples following documented procedures.
- Tune and calibrate ICP-MS on a daily basis.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance to ensure top performance and accuracy of data.
- Ability to assess and trouble shoot instrument performance issues as required.
- Prepare reagents and standards as required.
- Responsible for meeting required turnaround times and ensuring that analytical holding times are met.
- Assists in the investigation and resolution of issues and non-conformances.
- Track use of consumables inventory, requesting supplies as required.
- Complies with company QA/QC and Health & Safety policies and procedures and addresses any issues pertaining to the department.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- B.Sc. or Chemical/Biology/Biochemistry Technology Diploma
- Minimum 3 years’ direct experience operating an ICP-MS in a production laboratory environment.
- Experience within the environmental testing sector is strongly preferred.
- Experience with general lab equipment, including balances, pipettes, centrifuges, probes, etc.
- Proven computer skills including and MS office (Word and Excel).
- Good understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) an asset.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and balancing workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly reliable and deadline-driven.
