**Summary**
The Controller will play a critical role in assessing accounting operations within Novacore and the subsidiaries; and providing support to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the various accounting departments. This position will be responsible for timely financial management reports and analysis directly to the President and Vice-President of the company. This executive position requires a strategic thinker with a strong financial and analytical background as well as proving track record of managing finance functions in dynamic environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Financial strategy and Planning:_
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the companies’ growth and profitability goals.
- Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process, including budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
- Provide strategic recommendations to President, VP and Executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
- Financial Management:_
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Managing cash flow, credit agreements and mortgages to ensure the company’s financial stability.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Risk Management and Efficiency Improvements_
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management and strategies.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
- Oversee the companies’ insurance programs and manage relationships with insurance providers.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the financial processes and systems for increased efficiency and effectiveness
- Implement best practices in financial management and operations.
- Developing and automating the process of KPI’s, budgeting and dashboard reporting
- Leadership and Team Development_
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance skills and capabilities for the finance team.
- Evaluate and manage the performance of finance staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision making across the companies.
- Represent the finance department in executive and board meetings, providing clear and concise financial reporting and updates
- Internal Controls and Compliance_
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure consistency.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations and internal policies.
- Regularly review and update financial policies to align with industry standards and regulatory requirements and the development of current Standard Operating Procedures.
- Stakeholder Management: _
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, banks and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate audits and ensure timely and accurate completion of all financial audits.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years proven experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Professional Accounting Designation (e.g. CPA) is required.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and communication skills
- Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., INFOR, QuickBooks, and Sage 50)
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial and strategic planning process
- In depth knowledge of corporate finance, budgeting and financial reporting

Starting at $140,000 per annum plus benefits
**Working Conditions**
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:30pm) with flexibility based on business needs.
Ability to lift up to 20lbs independently.
