Coring Operator

**M CON Products** is an industrial manufacturing plant that was established in 1989 in **Ottawa, Ontario** to provide the fast-growing market with high quality Precast Concrete products on time and at a competitive price. Our Precast products include circular and elliptical concrete pipe, circular and box maintenance holes, catch basins, box culverts, oil grit separators and gravity retaining wall systems.

**Overview**:
The primary responsibilities of the position of **Coring Operator** include laying out and core drilling of holes in concrete products to facilitate customer needs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Inspection of machinery and equipment prior to use.
- Verify correct product is loaded.
- Assess and verify hole specifications.
- Regular use of hand and power tools (i.e. wrench, jack hammer/hammer drill).
- Safe operation of core drilling equipment.
- Attach and detach drill components as needed.
- Maintain equipment through proper use and care (i.e. minor repairs, lubrication).
- Report machine irregularities and performance issues.
- Be part of the continuous improvement team and identify areas of inefficiency.
- Work with Quality Control Team to finish product after coring.
- Other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Education Required:_
- Secondary School Diploma

**Experience**:

- Previous experience preferred but willing to train.
- Forklift (class V, 20000lb capacity or higher) certification preferred.

**Specific Experience**:

- Must have ability to work to specifications.
- Must be self-motivated to meet or exceed schedules.
- Must have excellent communication skills, written, verbal and computer (MS Office), as well as experience with blueprint reading and dimensioning

- Always maintain high level of safety.
- Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment.
- Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays.
- Must be able to function without direct supervision. Must also be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Always maintain a professional attitude, especially when handling stressful situations.
- Equipment and Machinery Experience.
- Hand and power tools.

**Own Tools/Equipment**:

- Steel-toe safety boots (own)
- Vest (supplied)
- Glasses (supplied)
- Hard Hat (supplied)

**Compensation**:

- Salary based on experience. $26.65 - $29.65/hr (~$36.58 - 39.82/hr includes union benefits, pension and vacation)
- Permanent, Full time, 44 hours /week, Monday-Friday
