Human Resources Specialist

**Main Purpose of the Role**:
To handle day-to-day human resource programs and activities related to all HR functions, including payroll, talent acquisition, performance reviews and employee relations. To support strategic business objectives, and assist in HR related projects, initiatives, and programs.
**Major Areas of Responsibility**:
**Payroll / Total Rewards**
- Process bi-weekly Canadian payroll
- Manage & update daily timesheets
- Export & submit regular reports to Head Office
- Analyze emerging trends such as absenteeism, overtime and turnover
- Answer employee questions relating to payroll
- Prepare the annual payroll budget in accordance with business strategy
- Lead the annual performance and salary review processes
**HR Strategy & Policy**
- Assist with implementing and driving HR strategy, priorities, and actions
- Provide advice to Management team in related to HR matters
- Review and implement HR policies & procedures
**Talent Acquisition**
- Implement recruitment strategy and channel to fill up the vacancies within a reasonable time frame
- In charge of Recruitment process and drive continuous improvement
Assist with headcount requirement evaluations and job scoping
**Learning & Development**
- Support on-boarding process to provide a positive employee experience to newcomers
- Monitor the on-boarding completion rate through internal system
- Manage E-portal platform to keep our HR news updated
- Maintain the performance management system
**Requirements**:
- University graduate in Human Resources Management or related disciplines is preferred
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
- Strong background in HRIS (preferably ADP and/or SAP HCM), labor relations, payroll, benefits & compensation management
- Experience of managing payroll and ensuring payroll compliance both from a legal and global compliance perspective
- HR experience in the container shipping industry preferred
- Proven follow through capabilities
- Customer service approach (internal & external)
- Detail oriented, proactive, and team player
- Accountable, responsible, discreet
- Fluent in French & English
