At Ronald McDonald House Charities® British Columbia and Yukon (RMH BC), we envision a province where families stay close to their sick children. Today, 2 out of 3 Canadians live in a city or town without a children’s hospital. Our Mission is to give sick children the healing power of being together with family.

As a champion of family-centered care, we enable access to children’s hospitals by providing families with sick children accommodation, meals, and wellness programs that support their emotional and physical well-being.

In 1983, the first RMH BC House opened its doors in Vancouver with a 13-Bedroom House, and over the years, with an increase in demand for this essential service, construction of a new building was underway. In 2014, a 73-bedroom House was unveiled on the grounds of BC Children’s Hospital along with a new 2,000 sq. ft. RMH Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital. As the second-largest House in Canada and one of the largest in the world, RMH BC will continue to grow and meet the needs of families across BC and Yukon.

**About the Position**

We are seeking an Events Assistant who will work with our Development and External Relations team to assist with the planning and organization of signature and third-party fundraising events throughout the summer, including the Vancouver Invitational Golf Tournament, the Vancouver Island Golf Tournament, and preparation for A Night to Dream Gala. This is a full-time position throughout the summer, from May to September.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Coordination and setup of events at the House and around the Lower Mainland
- Assisting with procurement and tracking of auction items
- Assisting with the development of event administrative signage and collateral
- Assisting with event data entry
- Assisting with other projects related to the Communications & Development team
- Assisting with general office administrative duties related to the Communications & Development team
- Handling cash and other donation
- Packing and unpacking of vehicles
- Cleaning up after events and organizing event storage space
- Other duties as required.

- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible to work on a variety of projects concurrently
- Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of our team
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
- Physically able to perform above duties including lift and carry at least 30 lbs
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to your own vehicle would be an asset

**Experience and Educational Requirements**

This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program and applicants must meet the following program requirements:

- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/ territorial legislation and regulations.
