Summer Child/youth Support Worker

We are looking for a Child/Youth Support Worker to assist with the program. Primarily working in the 3-5 year old room, this position may also have some shifts in the school age program. Some shifts are directly supporting one child, and others involve working with the general group.

Block 8 Academy is a progressive daycare centre in Port Moody, for children 2.5 - 12 years of age. Our program includes fun community projects, art, music, homework help, and outdoor recreation time.

It is an asset to have experience leading groups of 8+ children. This allows us extra flexiblity in scheduling.
- ability to role model words and select visuals that match the words to help the child learn what the words mean.
- ability to break tasks down into smaller chunks
- ability to model age appropriate positive social interactions.
- Experience working with children with challenging behaviours
- Experience working in a team environment with little supervision
- Experience with providing structure to an individual in care
- Specific education or extensive experience with behaviour management techniques
- Experience working with children in a child care/recreational setting
- Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of 20 hours of training related to child growth/development
- A Current First Aid certificate
- Consent to a Criminal Record Check
- Ability to provide 3 professional / personal references

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- No weekends
- On call

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Port Moody, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Child/Youth Support: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid and CPR C Certification (preferred)
