**About the Role**

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team this summer through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with children and teens in a community-based, values-driven environment. The Youth Worker will help plan, lead, and support activities that engage local youth in meaningful, safe, and creative ways.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in planning and delivering youth programs, events, and outreach initiatives
- Support weekly children’s ministry or youth group gatherings
- Help organize and lead day camp and/or community events as needed.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable leading activities and adapting to the needs of different age groups.
- Provide mentorship and positive role modeling to children and teens
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with church staff and volunteers on program logistics
- Perform light administrative tasks or facility prep as needed

**Qualifications**
- Must meet the eligibility requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs 2025 program
- Interest or experience in youth work, education, recreation, and/or church settings
- Enthusiastic about working with children and youth with a desire to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A background check and/or vulnerable sector screening will be required

**Assets**_(not required)_
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience working in church or faith-based programs
- Leadership experience with children or teens

**Working Environment**
- Based primarily at Jericho Road Church in Port Alberni, with occasional outings or outdoor activities
- Mostly daytime hours, with some flexibility depending on programming
- Supportive and team-oriented environment.
