**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced **Director of Care** to lead the nursing department at our respected long-term care facility. Reporting to the Site Administrator, the Director of Care is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered clinical services while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, promoting staff development, and supporting a culture of safety, respect, and excellence.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring delivery of high-quality, person-centered care.
- Coordinate nursing services with interdisciplinary care teams and external stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate resident care plans based on identified needs and preferences.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning through staff education, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Ensure all nursing staff possess current certifications and competencies aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee admissions and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition process in coordination with internal and external partners.
- Manage and monitor compliance with health authority standards, licensing regulations, and ministry requirements.
- Lead initiatives in risk management, infection control, and quality improvement, including internal audits and inspections.
- Supervise the RAI MDS Program and ensure annual certification is maintained by relevant staff.
- Maintain effective relationships with unions, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of nursing staff in accordance with company policies.
- Serve as Acting Site Administrator in their absence, in accordance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Residential Care Regulations.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required); CNA Gerontology Certificate preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership or senior management experience in long-term care or a community health agency.
- Prior experience as a Director of Care in the long-term care sector preferred.
- Proficient in RAI MDS, PointClickCare, Pixalere, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
- Must pass a Criminal Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound clinical judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse care team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and resident-focused approach to care.
- Experience in team building, mentorship, and staff development.
- Commitment to upholding professional standards and resident safety.

Pay: $65,714.00-$70,911.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Licence/Certification:

- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification (required)
