We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Out of School Care Coordinator to join our team. As a OSC Coordinator, you will play a vital role in our Program providing quality, inclusive child care services for young children in a group setting under the direction of the program Directors and Parent Board.

**Responsibilities**:

- Works to ensure programming adheres to all licensing standards of VIHA and BC’s Childcare and Community Care Act as well as the program’s established Policy and Procedures. Must participate/complete the Vancouver Island Health Authority Managers training course
- Always maintain open communication with the Directors and management regarding child or parent incidents, program updates, and staffing concerns etc.
- Ensure a safe, stimulating, and fun environment for the children
- Maintains a healthy relationship with the staff, children, parents, and community partners and ensures all adhere to the established Policy and Procedures
- Ensures all accurate records of children in designated programs are complete and up to date
- Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that promote the well-being of each child, and that respect and reflect the diverse needs of children within a budget
- Meet and discuss with the parents and guardians to collaborate in nurturing a child's development further
- Be able to carry out responsibilities instructed to you by the Directors when requested. In the absence of Directors, become point person for staff and parents to contact in case of issues
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to all staff, facilitating and participating in staff meetings evaluations, and discipline staff when necessary

Staff Management
- Assists with Staff hiring and scheduling
- Being a positive role model, team player and training new staff
- Reporting any staff changes, allocation changes and discipline staff when necessary or reporting discipline issues to the Directors
- Participate and stay informed through the staff portal on Workplace Program Operations
- Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.This includes all planning for OSC, Pro D Days and Camps (winter, spring break and summer )with daily prep within budget
- Work all Pro D Days, Winter camp, Spring break camp
- Create monthly calendars for OSC
- Ensure all planning/programming meets CVCC standards
- Activity planning sheets for staff to implement scheduled child activities by ensuring everything is organized for the staff
- Open communication with Directors on budget
- Meeting with the Directors daily
- Staff meetings every month with staff either in person or zoom
- Organize space, equipment, and materials before activities ensuring adaptations to the environment as required
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of all rooms is maintained
- Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding while using a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing
- Organize first aid kits and earthquake kits and ensure they are stocked and up to date
- Reading the message book and checking Esikidz app at the beginning and end of your shift ensuring that you are up to date with any new messages
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to the children, families, staff and fulfill obligations to respect protection of privacy Environment
- Follow the licensing requirements and the program's procedures for maintaining health records and administering medications and first aid
- Report all incidents, injuries, and illnesses to your management and record such incidents on the Minor Accident, Illness and Unexpected Events forms
- Monitor the child care facility for hazards and take preventative action as required
- Update self-daily on children’s allergies, special conditions, or other pertinent information -Health and Safety officer if Directors not on site
