**Position Summary**
The Accounting Manager will provide leadership and oversee all accounting and reporting functions.
**Position Responsibilities**
Directing and supervising all matters relating to finance
Managing day-to-day financial and accounting activities
Supervising and providing direction to accounting staff
Leading the organization through its annual budget process
Preparing and distributing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages including variance analysis and forecasting
Working with departmental managers in analyzing monthly results and developing corrective action strategies where necessary in order to meet budgets
Participating in the development of corporate strategy and plan, and operating policies
Acting as resource and support to committees and departments
Attending board, committee and staff meetings and making presentations where appropriate
Preparing for, and managing the external audit and reporting process
Managing/supervising all aspects of salary, payroll processing, benefits, personnel file retention and legislated reporting requirements
Leading the improvement and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures
Implementing, documenting and maintaining adequate and effective internal controls
Implementing, documenting and maintaining adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
**Qualifications Required**
Minimum 7 years of related accounting experience at a senior level (including minimum 4 years in a supervisory capacity) - preferably in the not-for-profit sector
Good working knowledge of SAGE accounting software
Working knowledge of financial reporting theory and accounting standards and practices in the not-for
- profit sector
Experience with developing budgeting models and variance reporting
Good problem solving, analytical and organizational skills and the ability to think and act strategically
Proven ability in dealing with detail in operations and in producing accurate, timely reports and analysis
Excellent people management and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task
Comfortable working in an environment with mínimal supervision
Working knowledge of legislative requirements in the salary administration and payroll fields
CPA accounting designation is preferred
